Evan's Birthday Party!

Evan had his birthday party at the Little Gym this weekend. Almost everybody showed up and the kids had a great time!

Here are some pics! I can't seem to figure out how to transfer it from the camera and the computer person in this house is out of town. The pics aren't great, I need a camera that shoots faster.

The second pic is Evan laying in his chalk drawings....Jon took it and I thought it looked cool!
Evan is already asking where his next party will be....I asked him if we could breathe after getting through this birthday season first!

A Busy Week

We had a busy week and I haven't had time to post anything.

We spent last Saturday at Carla's house. The menfolk built garden boxes for us to grow veggies and plants, the children played and we womenfolk sat and relaxed....and drank wine...on a lovely Spring afternoon.

Jon was gone for the first part of the week in Atlanta and we had lots of rain here in DFW. Luke's new phrase this week is, "What that?" Sounds cute..and it is...but he wants to know what EVERYTHING is. It is like a talking baby tour of wherever we go. To think I was upset when Evan didn't talk much till 2.

Evan had his big 4 year check-up on Thursday....big as in 5 shots, a blood draw, regular check-up, hearing test, vision test, etc, etc. The shots are always a BIG hit with the 4 year old set. Lots of screaming and tears but he was rewarded with a trip to Purple Cow for his troubles. For the record according to his doc,"You all have a big kid on your hands". So, I have one big one and one peanut one. Who says you need a boy and a girl to balance the universe.

Uncle Matt and Aunt Cristen sent a pitching machine for E's birthday. Both boys love it! Thanks for thinking of Evan on his birthday. You can see from the pic Luke thinks he is really much older than he is.

This weekend is Evan's big birthday party at the Little Gym. He spent this afternoon stuffing his Curious George themed party bags with me. He was very motivated since he gets to keep one for himself. I will post party pictures later this weekend!
In other news, I am starting a campaign to encourage my husband to get the big V. Anyone want to get involved?;) Dave gets his next week so I am hoping that may motivate him, but I doubt it. I secretly think he is waiting to find the gorgeous and successful 2nd wife so he can pro-create again. I keep telling him that most of those women are much more high maintenance then little ol' me and the word frugal isn't in their vocabulary. I don't think he believes me!

Fort Worth Zoo

We braved the spring break crowds and went to the FW Zoo with Ms. Holly, Leo and Henry. It was a chaotic mess but we managed to make the most of it and enjoy ourselves and have a nice lunch....the part the mommies enjoy the most! We got there when the zoo opened and already had to park in the overflow parking lots.

Leo and Evan had a great time together. Henry was chatty all day and was a good sport about riding on Ms. Holly's back for most of the time since there were so may people there. Luke got to see the elephants...his favorite...so everyone was a little bit happy. Holly and I got to meet Carla for dinner at a wine bar, so our happiness came a bit later in the day!

I forgot my camera so I will post some pics when I get them from Holly. Thanks goodness spring break is almost over.

Papa Visits and Evan turns 4!

Papa came to visit for Evan's birthday and we were all very excited....especially the boys!

It took Luke a little bit to warm up to the strange guy with the glasses but he was asking for "papapapa" at the end of his first day here.

We took Papa to the Purple Cow and then tried to go to the Zoo but it is Spring Break and there was literally a traffic jam trying to get into the zoo. We went to Starbucks instead...a favorite of the boys. Vanilla milk and cookies always takes the sting out of any disappointment.
For Evan's birthday, we got up to see what the Birthday Monsters had left! The Birthday Monsters has become a tradition here after reading the Sandra Boynton book. Evan got his birthday balloons....Luke's favorite part of the morning... a new game for his Leapster, lots of gardening tools just for him and a tent that looks just like a farm. Both boys thought the tent was awesome and spent the morning feeding the "animals".

We had pictures done at a local park with both boys. Luke was less than enthused but the photographer and Papa were great at getting a few smiles. Hopefully they will turn out.

Evan chose to go to McDonalds for lunch and play outside at the play area. We then went to the aquarium which was also beyond crowded but we did still enjoy it and Evan loved showing Papa all his favorite things.

Evan decided on mini cheeseburgers on the grill for dinner and then we had ice cream cake adorned with Mickey Mouse. Evan loved having Papa here for his birthday and I think Papa enjoyed seeing the boys...and enjyoing a little warm Texas weather.

It was a great day and Evan kept asking if he was a big boy now that he was 4! I can hardly believe how old he seems now and how it seems like just yesterday that he was my tiny little guy. There have been LOTS of long days in the last 4 years, but I am so thrilled to be able to watch my baby grow up and change!

Superheros and Lizards!

Evan got a box in the mail from Aunt Susie for his birthday....okay it was from all the Hutchesons but Evan just LOVES his Aunt Susie and so he has decided that it is from her despite our attempts to correct him. He got a new pirate book, a xylophone and a superhero costume. He likes it all but has been running around the house in his superhero costume. I think he looks a bit like the Lone Ranger! The picture isn't great because he was tired when I asked him to pose. As a side note, I think it is totally unfair that I came into the picture when all their children were grown so I can't send nosiy musical instruments to them.

In other news, we live in Texas so we have a variety of reptiles/lizards/amphibians in the backyard once it is warm. Evan loves his "leezards". We have several that camp out on the drain pipe during the day and Evan leaves them food and water. You will also see in the picture he leaves them letters. Apparently, the lizard had a birthday over the weekend so we made a card. Evan asked if the lizards could sleep in his room if it rained....I had to draw the line. I keep telling him no more living things that poop in the house until everyone is potty trained!

The Boys

We have been sick for most of January and February so we are hoping that March will continue to bring us good health! Who knew that kids were such germ vectors?

Evan will be 4 next week and Luke is starting to do a lot of talking....much earlier than Evan. Pretty soon both will be yabbering at me non-stop!

The picture of Evan and Luke are in their new jammies that Gramma got them...Evan is grumpy and hiding behind Wubzy.

Luke and I visited the Arboretum with our friends Holly and Henry. Luke and Henry played in the little houses and Luke stopped to pose for me.

Jumping on the bandwagon!

In the interest of letting family and friends keep up with the boys and our very "exciting" life here in Texas, I have started this blog. I am not quite sure I know what I am doing, but I will give it a try!
