Bonding

Does this even need to be explained?

I SWEAR this was not posed!

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary!

So my beloved and I celebrated 6 years of wedded bliss....did I say that? We were out to dinner with friends recounting our marital history on Friday and we got the usual jaw drops. Married 4.5 weeks, pregnant, have baby, move to Texas, have another baby.... It really does feel like we have been married for 47 years at least.

We went to dinner at Bob's and then went to Uptown for some patio wine sippin' and people watching!

We are loving having a little more freedom for hanging out with each other and friends as the kids get a little older....this did not deter the hubby from reminding me that he would LOVE another little person at our house.

Hopefully, we have many more years to fight over politics, argue over who knows more about sports(clearly me minus baseball) and just generally drive each other insane.... isn't that what love is all about?:)

Jon's Garden Project

Jon tilled part of the side yard to add some more space for fruits and veggies. I forsee us adding more space since we have already almost filled in the new space already;). Jon rented a tiller and worked really hard to get it all done. What a good hubby!

We added cantaloupes, cucumbers, watermelons, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, a peach tree and an apple tree. I am going to add some more basil, peppers and chard this week. We really want to focus in root veggies and lettuce in the next year.

Herb/Veggie Garden

We got our garden box from last year re-planted this weekend....it is getting more fun to shop for plants and do the work with the kids. I am taking this as a good sign of things to come!:)
We have some tomatoes(less than last year since Jon is not into them), basil, thyme, oregano, parsley, cilantro, peppers, swiss chard and sage. We added some marigolds for pest control and just to make it look nice!

Tennis Anyone?

The boys set up a "indoor" tennis court in the garage. Notice, that they are wearing their rainboots while playing.

Top Chef: Toddler Style

I love Top Chef and the new one is a Top Chef Masters. I love watching all the drama when the time is running out and they need to get the meal on the plate for the critics.

I think there should be a twist. Not only would there be a time frame in which they had to get a delicious meal on the table but they would also have to at least 2 small people under their feet: asking questions, whining, asking for snacks and complaining...

Not that would be must watch TV!

Popsicles compliments of Grandma and Papa!

Grandma and Papa sent us a fancy Zoku Popsicle maker form Williams Sonoma. After freezing the base for 24 hrs....with much whining from Luke because he wanted them immediately...we had apple juice pops this afternoon in less than 10 minutes.

They were so delicious and the boys loved them! Luke was less than thrilled that I didn't have any juice on hand to make "pink ones"...but what can you expect from a teething 2.5 year old.
Thanks GM and Papa!

Yummy!

I made this for dinner last night and it turned out really nice so I thought I would post a rare food pic.

It is Chicken Milanese with Spring Greens and Orzo with browned butter. It's from Cooking Light.
If I could just figure out a way to get tips from the diners, I would be all set!

Some more of the garden...

The three rose plants went in where the dusty miller used to be by the pool. They look pretty good, but we shall see if we can find a way to kill them!
I need to do my veggies/herbs this weekend but I need to do it when I can plan and focus without "assistance".

That 's what I thought...

We have gone back and forth about switching Luke to a bed from his crib, but I have hesitated because he is my snuggle boy and he LOVES sleeping with us. He sleeps in his crib, but loves to come snuggle with us anytime he can make a good argument for it!:)

He has slept with us twice this week because he wasn't feeling great due to erupting molars.
This morning he told Jon and I, he was upset because he didn't sleep in our bed and snuggle last night.

This afternoon while I was in his room with him changing his diaper, he asked when he was getting a big boy bed. I told him, I wasn't sure and wanted to know why he wanted to sleep in a bog boy bed.

He says(with a very coy little smirk):
"Because then, I can get out of my bed to come in for snuggles"!

I think we shall wait...:)

Mama does some planting!

I have added some roses this year. I am in a rose state of mind and plan on ripping up the Dusty Miller bed to add rose bushes. I loved the rose bushes in Maine and decided hell, if they make me happy, why not?!;) The yellow rose tree is the Julia Child rose.....gotta love that. I have to add I did all this planting with the "help" of my little people. Evan is actually very helpful, Luke not quite yet!
I have about 20 more yard projects to come so stay tune...

Evan's Birthday Party

Evan had his bowling birthday party on Saturday. He has a fabulous time....and I think all his friends had a blast too! I really did not get many pics but in my defense, a birthday party with 20 4 and 5 year olds is chaotic, full of energy, exhausting and non-stop!

Birthday season is closed at the Hutcheson abode till November!:)

Heard here on a Tuesday

Luke was home sick from school today as he is still recovering from his awful cough he had with he strep. I have to have Ms. Gloria come babysit, because I had my annual appointment with the gyn that had already been rescheduled.

When I got home this is the ensuing conversation with Luke:

L:Mommy, did they check your throat with the Popsicle stick ?
Me: Nope, not today.
L: Why Mommy?
Me: They just don't do that at this doctor.
L: Well, what did they check?
Me: My mommy parts got a check-up.
L: Oh, did they check your boobies with the Popsicle stick?

Seriously, life with toddlers is comedy all by itself!;)

The Boys with Grandma and Papa!

Papa always has bizarre camera faces. This is right before Evan and I headed off to church so he is in his "church clothes".;)

Ahhhh, this is the life!

Ahhh, Spring in the Big D Grandma did a lot of knitting, Grandpa read up on the Civil War....the "For Dummies" series...no comment, just reporting the facts!
Jon's perfect morning: warm weather, coffee, a patio and the newspaper....too bad there isn't a Porta-Potty in our yard!

The boy in jinxed!

Perhaps, it was because I told people I was preganat with him on Easter but my poor Luke has not been fortunate with Easter. His first Easter he has an ear infection, his 2nd a virus with fever and this year strep throat! He is such a good patient....give him a race car pillow, apple juice and a good binky and he is happy!

The Eggs...always the Eggs!

Grandma loves dyeing eggs....we used to do at least 4 dozen growing up! We stuck to 2 dozen and had a lot of fun drawing on them...not very creative, but I have the math/science genes not the artsy/creative ones. The boys had a great time. You will notice Luke's hacking cough face in the first pic.....it only goes downhill from there! It is amazing that my mother...who feels playdough was her arch nemesis in the vain of Superman and Kryptonite...likes something as messy as egg dyeing.

Grandma came to visit...

and she ended up wearing a cowboy hat....how Texas is that?!

This is her and Evan playing a game out on the patio. Gotta love the effect of the Texas sun on a dark skinned Italian!
